Merry Christmas.
In just a few short weeks, we will be celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus! What a joyous season is Christmastime! It
is a time when we think of others. It is a time when love and good will towards men is genuine and sincere. As Luke 2:14 says, “Glory
to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” It is that special time of year when the hearts of humans are
somewhat softened and lifted by the sentiment of the season.
As the economic climate of this past year helps us to realize the truth of our own personal economic situations, I am again reminded by
the Holy Spirit, who abides and dwells within my heart, that this season of Christmas, good will, and rejoicing is not brought on by all of
the worldly commercialization of the season as a mere holiday. No, quite to the contrast, it is brought on by the Lord Himself as we
remember and celebrate the birth of the Messiah, the Savior of the world and cherish this time of the year and season of Christmas as a
holy-day when God sent Jesus into the world to die for our sins!
Once again, we will exchange gifts with our friends and family this year. However, let us remember that it is not the gifts, but the heart
with which they are given, that really matters and, above all, it is the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who is the reason for the season!
